Arcana 8 in the Destiny Matrix: Justice
If you are here because two sites gave your 8 different names, the next section has the answer. Arcana 8 is the account settling — the perception of what is owed, and the discomfort of leaving it unreconciled.

Why some sources number this card differently
This is the most common confusion in the whole system, and it is not a disagreement about meaning. It is about numbering.
The older Marseille order numbers Justice as 8 and Strength as 11. Rider–Waite — the deck most people have seen — swapped them in 1909, so Strength became 8 and Justice became 11.
Destiny Matrix practice follows Marseille, so this site does too. Your arcana 8 is Justice.
If another calculator called your 8 Strength, it has not made an arithmetic error. The number is identical; it is reading the label from a tarot deck rather than from the matrix sources. Only 8 and 11 are affected — every other number is the same across both orderings.
If you want the Strength reading, it is arcana 11. For how the numbers themselves are produced, see how the chart is calculated.
What arcana 8 means
Its material is balance, consequence and weighing. Scales and a sword — the scales measure, the sword decides, and the order matters. Justice does not act first and justify afterwards.
Arcana 8 perceives what is owed. It notices imbalance the way other people notice noise: an unfair distribution, an unreturned favour, a version of events that does not match what happened. And it wants the books to reconcile — not out of vindictiveness, but because an unreconciled account is genuinely uncomfortable to hold.
Two things it is not. Not punishment — the sword decides, it does not avenge. And not moralism; arcana 8 is interested in what actually balances, which is frequently not what convention says should.
Arcana 8 in each position
These are the ten positions people ask about most. Your full chart holds 27 readings.
In your Core Essence
Resting means no outstanding accounts — nothing owed to you, nothing owed by you, nobody misrepresented. A clean default and a demanding one, because accounts rarely stay settled. Disputes get brought to this position and its judgements tend to hold. Under pressure it starts totalling, which is often right and sometimes a way of not dealing with the thing itself: an account can balance perfectly while the underlying situation stays broken. In your Portrait Zone
You read as fair and straight. People assume you will tell them the truth and not take more than your share, and they bring you both sides of a disagreement. The cost is precise: a portrait reading as impartial makes it hard to be partisan. Asking for something for yourself looks out of character, and many people with this have represented everyone’s interests well except their own. All 22 portrait numbers →
In your Karmic Tail
The unsettled account as the repeating pattern. Something was not fair and has not been put right — a childhood distribution, a credit taken by someone else, a version of events everyone accepted that was not true. The tell is a recurring sense of being owed: not money necessarily, but recognition, apology, the correction of a record. All 26 karmic tails →
On your Love Line
Wants reciprocity — effort matched, care returned, the practical load shared. Reasonable, and it makes durable relationships. The complication is the ledger: contributions get tracked whether or not anyone agreed to track them, and a relationship where one person is quietly keeping accounts is under a strain the other cannot see. The Love Line explained →
On your Wealth Line
Scrupulous. Money earned in proportion to what was given, priced honestly, tracked accurately. This produces a clean financial life and one specific limitation: arcana 8 charges what is fair rather than what the market will bear, and the difference over a career is substantial. The Wealth Line explained →
In your Talent Zone
A native sense of proportion. You see what is actually going on in a dispute — who is owed what, which grievance is real and which is a proxy for something else. The assessment simply arrives, and it is usually right. It also makes you the person others bring conflicts to, which spends a great deal of your capacity on situations you have no stake in. More on the Talent Zone →
In your Maternal Line
A mother line carrying a grievance, often accurate and often never voiced. The inheritance is a sharp eye for unfairness and a habit of noting it silently. The Maternal Line →
In your Paternal Line
Often a family with a genuine injustice in its history — land taken, a will disputed, a member cut off, a wrong never acknowledged. The duty is to remember, and letting go can feel like siding with whoever caused it. The Paternal Line →
In your Heart Center
Connection through fairness. You give what is due and expect the same, which is honest and can feel transactional to someone whose love language is not reciprocity. The Heart Center →
In your Life Cycles
Periods of reckoning — years where something is settled, corrected, or finally acknowledged. Also the years where an account is opened that takes decades to close. Life Cycles explained →

Strengths and the shadow side
Strengths
It sees imbalance accurately, which is a perceptual skill rather than a moral posture. It is honest under conditions where honesty costs something. It is trusted with disputes, and its judgements hold. And it takes consequence seriously, which makes it reliable in the ways that matter.
Pressure Responses
Keeping score — contributions tracked in a private ledger nobody agreed to, producing resentment that appears unprovoked because the accounting was invisible. Fairness without mercy: an accurate judgement delivered at the wrong moment, or to someone who needed something else. Paralysis from weighing, calling delay thoroughness. Poor self-advocacy, from applying the same impartiality to your own case. And difficulty with things that will not settle, which most things will not.

Frequently the Talent Zone alongside an ancestral line: an inherited sense of injustice and a native talent for spotting it, which is a powerful combination and a heavy one.
How arcana 8 reads against other numbers
Against [arcana 7, The Chariot
accounting and momentum. Very common together, and the drive is often powered by the grievance without either position naming it.
Against [arcana 3, The Empress]
counting and giving. They agree more than they conflict, and where they conflict it is about giving to someone who has not reciprocated: arcana 3 keeps supplying and arcana 8 keeps counting.
